President Jokowi: 92 Percent of 2018 Asian Games Venues Completed

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo revealed that 92 percent of the construction of sports venues for the 18th Asian Games to be held in the upcoming August 2018 has been completed.

Likewise, the preparations of athletes both at home and abroad are also already running.”We expect not only successful preparations, but also successful implementation and achievement. This is what we expect,” President Jokowi said after reviewing the National Training Center (Pelatnas) for Equestrian in Arthayasa Stable, Limo, Depok, West Java, Sunday (6/5) afternoon.

Most importantly, the President continued, 92 percent of the venues is completed and now in the completion process.

“We hope we will have a good performance because in the 2014 Asian Games, Indonesia ranked 17th. Our target in the 18th Asian Games is the top 10. The target is 16 gold,” the President said.

To that end, the President admitted that he will continue to ensure that the preparations for the 2018 Asian Games run well, considering this is also a sense of ownership of the community.

“I always say that the implementation of the 18th Asian Games is right around the corner. Because once again, 45 countries will gather in Indonesia and approximately 15 thousand athletes will gather in our country so I hope our society also participate in the 18th Asian Games,” the President said.

The President also expressed hope that all communities, business world, the Government, and local Governments should all support this big event because it involves the big name of the Indonesian nation. For example, shops give discounts during the implementation of Asian Games and the community holds competitions in schools, villages, or in their respective districts and cities.
