President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has emphasized that Law Number 6 of 2014 on Villages has regulated the tenure of village heads for six years and for three periods.

He made the statement in response to village heads who marched in front of the House of Representatives (DPR) building to voice their opinion on the extension of the village head’s term of office some time ago.

The President said that the extension of the term of office was the aspiration of the village heads. He also invited village heads to convey their aspirations to the DPR.

For the record, on Monday, January 16, 2023, the village heads gathered in front of the DPR building, asking for the revision of Article 39 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2014, so that the village head’s term of office that was originally six years could become nine years.
