President Jokowi and the First Lady Head to Thailand to Attend APEC
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and the First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo headed to Bangkok, Thailand, through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali province, on Thursday (11/17). The President was scheduled to attend the 2022 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit.
“Today, the First Lady and I with a limited delegation will head to Bangkok, Thailand. I will attend APEC Summit meetings until Friday, 18 November 2022,” President Jokowi said in his remarks before the plane took off.
The APEC Summit concludes a series of summits after the ASEAN Summit in Cambodia and G20 in Bali, Indonesia. The President mentioned that Indonesia’s main focus in the APEC Summit is to boost an inclusive and sustainable economic recovery.
“The basic principle is to leave no one behind. Digital transformation, green economy, and downstreaming industry will be Indonesia’s priorities in this year’s APEC,” he explained.
According to the Head of State, APEC represents almost 3 billions of the global community and the 60 percent of the global GDP. “APEC should continue to serve as the economic growth machine in the Asia-Pacific region,” the President added.
President Jokowi and Ibu Iriana will come back to Indonesia soon after the APEC Summit concluded on Friday, 18 November 2022.
“I will be back to Indonesia, insya Allah, in the evening of 18 November,” he stated.
The Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung was accompanying President Jokowi and Ibu Iriana during the visit to Thailand.
Sending off the President were Minister of the State Secretariat Pratikno, Minister of Investment/Head of Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, Commander of Indonesian Defence Forces General Andika Perkasa, Chief of Indonesian Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Head of State Intelligence Agency Budi Gunawan, Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster.
