President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has extended his appreciation to all stakeholders and travelers for improvement in this year’s mudik (Eid al-Fitr annual exodus).

“This afternoon we were summoned by the President to attend a limited cabinet meeting on evaluation of the 2024 mudik management. On that occasion, the President extended his appreciation to all stakeholders and travelers because all indicators show the improvement in this year’s mudik handling compared to those of previous years,” Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said after a limited cabinet meeting on evaluation of the 2024 Eid annual exodus on Monday (05/06) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

According to Muhadjir, the President also ordered Cabinet ministers and head of Government institutions to make improvements for the next Eid exodus.

“The President ordered us to build new rest areas, improve facilities in existing rest areas, and build a rest area and buffer zone at kilometer 97 of the Jakarta-Merak line,” Muhadjir said, adding that the President has agreed to revamp Jangkar Port in Situbondo and designate the port as a regular port connecting the island of Java to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and small islands around Madura.

The Minister further said that inter-regional and inter-agency cooperation has resulted in improved main roads connectivity.

“The integrated management system implemented by the toll road company and traffic police in every region have prevented traffic jam in toll roads and main roads,” the Minister remarked. (KS/ST) (RI/EP)
