President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo appreciated the hard work of the National Police (Polri), particularly the counterterrorism squad Densus 88, that has dismantled terrorist networks in various regions, including Lampung and Sibolga (North Sumatra Province) in the past few days.

“The arrest of Sibolga terrorists is the result of the development of Lampung’s terrorist arrest,” President Jokowi said to reporters after visiting the 2019 Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) at JI-Expo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (13/3).

The President then called on Densus 88 to tackle the remaining cells (of terrorist) that have not yet been found and nip them in the bud. “Because terrorism is extremely dangerous for state security,” he added.

President Jokowi also expressed his concern over injured residents as well as officers due to bomb explosion in Sibolga, yesterday (12/3).

However, the President considered that it is not necessary to increase security for the upcoming 2019 General Elections.

He also stressed that the arrest of Lampung and Sibolga terrorists had no link to the Presidential Election.

“It has nothing to do with the presidential election,” the President emphasized. (FID / AIT / RAH / ES)
