President Jokowi Applauds Speedy Land Acquisition in Aceh Toll Road Development

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has expressed high appreciation for the speedy constructions of toll roads in the Acehnese provincial capital of Banda Aceh that has just entered its fourteenth month but land acquisition progress has reached 90 percent.

“This shows the will of the people (of Banda Aceh) to complete the construction immediately,” President Jokowi said in Aceh province, Saturday (22/2).

According to the President, the land acquisition is a common cause that hampers infrastructure development in all provinces. “The speed of land acquisition here is beyond my expectations,” he said.

President Jokowi also said that the people should be grateful for the speed of land acquisition since the country has experienced discrepancy on infrastructure development and it affects the speed of logistics distribution between regions.

“Today, the competition is about fast-paced country that will defeat the slow one; unlike as it used to be when rich countries beat poor countries,” he said, adding that Indonesia must be faster than other countries. (AIT/EN)
