President Jokowi Appreciates 70th Anniversary of Indonesia-China Relations

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping for the 70th anniversary of Indonesia-China bilateral relations via a phone call on Monday, 31 August 2020 at the Bogor Presidential Palace.
“Thank you for President Xi’s letter regarding the congratulatory message on the 70th anniversary of our bilateral relations. I hope the relations and cooperation between the two countries will be stronger and mutually beneficial,” said President Jokowi.
President Jokowi also expressed appreciation to the Chinese Government for the results of the visit of Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir to China to discuss several cooperation on health and economic sectors.
“I appreciated the Chinese government’s support to strengthen strategic health cooperation, including co-production and supply of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said President Jokowi.
In addition to the health sector, President Jokowi underlined that cooperations in economic sector between the two countries should not halt in the current pandemic condition, one of which is related to travel corridor arrangement between Indonesia-China.
“I welcomed the travel corridor arrangement that has been agreed by the two countries on 21 August 2020 to facilitate essential business trips and urgent official visits, of course by following strict health protocols,” said the President.
Moreover, President Jokowi also expressed appreciation for the investment cooperation between the two countries which continues to strengthen and mutually beneficial. (BPMI / EN)
