President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (6/7) attended Indo Livestock 2018 Expo & Forum at the Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC), Senayan, Jakarta. In that event, the President asserted that this livestock exhibition illustrates how the livestock in our country is growing so fast.

The Head of State also said that post-slaughter processed meat products, such as nuggets and sausages are now being exported. He believes that this is a proof of giant leap in the livestock industry.

“Post-slaughter processed meat products, such as nuggets and sausages began to pour into Japanese market, and will be soon exported to Vietnam and Malaysia. I think it is a leap in the livestock industry that hopefully can improve our trade balance because we have many export-oriented products,” the President added.

The exhibition taking place from 4 July 2018 is participated by various people, including businessperson, researchers, observers, producers, consumers, and government institutions engaged in livestock and fishery sectors. The participants are not only Indonesians but also international communities.

“I notice there are many foreign companies taking part in this exhibition, and there are also many domestic companies that have started introducing modern equipment,” the President stated.

President Jokowi said that in this exhibition adopting a theme “Animal Protein, the Source of Indonesia’s Food Sovereignty in Order to Improve Global Market”, modern equipment is a way that can increase fish harvesting from ponds by 30 to 40 percent.

“I think this kind of measures will continue to be developed because whatever our needs in the livestock industry there are still a lot of opportunities that can be used by the business community and the society,” President Jokowi said.

In that event, the President was impressed by domestic farm businesses, including free-range chicken farm that is able to produce 100,000 DOC (day old chick) per month even though free-range chicken farm business was predicted to be wiped out from the market.

“In fact, the production is increasing because there are companies operating in that field, though they are still new companies, the production can reach 100,000 per month. It is such a huge figure,” the President firmly said.

For the record, this exhibition is a grand exhibition in the livestock industry, animal health, animal feed, dairy, and fisheries.

Also accompanying President Jokowi in that visit were Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (RAH/EN) (RAS/YM/Naster)
