President Jokowi Appreciates Street Vendors’ Arrangement in Skywalk Cihampelas

President Joko Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi, accompanied by Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil, visit Skywalk Cihampelas on Wednesday (12/4)

On Wednesday (12/4) morning, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, headed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base on a CN-295 Aircraft to Bandung, West Java, to pay a working visit.

In his working visit, President Jokowi will distribute Healthy Indonesia Card (KIS), Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), Aspiring Family Program (PKH), and Supplementary Feeding (PMT) in Pandawa Garden, Arjuna District, Cicendo Subdistrict.

The President is also scheduled to visit Skywalk Cihampelas, and distribute land certicifates for national strategic programs in Bandung Kidul Subdistrict.

Upon his arrival in Skywalk Cihampelas, President Jokowi appreciated the development of Skywalk Cihampelas designed by Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil.

The President considered Skywalk Cihampelas as a good example of the arrangement of street vendors and urban planning, particularly for cities with not much availability of land. “I think it is a form of appreciation to the street vendors. Its placement and arrangement are so neat. And, it attracts domestic as well as foreign tourists,” President Jokowi said.

The President believes Skywalk Cihampelas is a good public space for people to interact, particularly in cities that have few public spaces. “A good arrangement of street vendors also attracts the consumers,” President Jokowi said adding that Bandung’s attractions are its souvenir, fashion, clothes, jacket, and bag. “I think the attractions are shown in this area, Cihampelas,” President Jokowi added.

According to the President, good presentation of food in food stalls and kiosks indicates that Bandung Regional Government really pays attention to micro and small business as well as street vendors and it can be a good example for other regions.“I think other cities can see this. Copying something is easy. So, come, see, and copy,” the President said.

After visiting Skywalk Cihampelas, President Jokowi will attend the handover of land certificates at Graha Batununggal Indah, Bandung Kidul, Bandung. (RMI/GUN/ES) (RA/MMB/YM/Naster)
