President Jokowi Appreciates the Fast Construction of Semanggi Interchange

President Joko Jokowi Widodo accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, Governor of DKI Jakarta Djarot Saiful Hidayat, Minister of Transportation Budi K. Sumadi, and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, inaugurated Semanggi Interchange, Semanggi, Jakarta, on Thursday (17/8) evening.
With the blessing of God the Almighty, I inaugurate Semanggi Interchange, President Jokowi said before pressing the button of siren followed by opening the curtain that covered the Interchange.
The President then signed an inscription and looked at an Educational Board, located at Semanggi Park, that become the mark of the Interchange. Every alphabet of the educational board tells the history of the construction, the figures involving in the construction, as well as the past and current technologies used in the construction.
President Jokowi also appreciated the people involved in the construction. This project finishes on time: 540 calendar days (60 days of planning plus 480 days of construction).
I really appreciate the fast construction of Semanggi Interchange. Its quick, only one year. I really appreciate the work of the previous and current governors, the President told the journalists.
The President firmly said that this Interchange is not only the heart of Jakarta, but also the heart of Indonesia, because Semanggi is a heavily congested area in Jakarta.
The President has passed over the Interchange quite often, about ten times, before the inauguration.
Therefore, the President appreciated the fast and timely work of PT Wijaya Karya that constructed the Semanggi Interchange.
The Semanggi Interchange, which construction spent Rp345,067,000,-, consists of 2 (two) ramps. The total of the first ramp is 796 meters spanning from Grogol to Blok M, while the second ramp is 826 meters connecting Gatot Subroto road from Cawang to Jenderal Sudirman road.
