President Jokowi Appreciates the People and Tax Officers for their Contribution in Tax Amnesty

President Jokowi inspects the service of tax amnesty program on Friday (30/9), at the Headquarter of Directorate General of Taxation, Jakarta

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, after leading a limited meeting on Friday (30/9), inspected the Headquarter of Directorate General of Taxation of the Ministry of Finance, in Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jakarta, to witness the services on the last day of the first period of Tax Anmesty program.

Upon his arrival at 7:50 p.m., President Jokowi, who was accompanied by Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Deputy Minister of Finance Mardiasmo, and Director General of Taxation Ken Dwijugiasteadi, witnessed there were still a lot of taxpayers who were queueing to participate in this tax amnesty program.

According to the President, until around 08:03 p.m., the declared assets and repatriation of taxpayers from the tax amnesty program has reached Rp3,540 trillion, and penalty payments has reached Rp97.1 trillion.

“However, the amount will increase until midnight because many taxpayers are still queuing,” the President said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his gratitude for the participation of taxpayers, business sector, and the people in tax amnesty program. “Allow me to express my gratitude to tax officers and officials who worked hard in the last 3 months. Personally, I saw they worked until midnight during the past one month,” President Jokowi added.

The President also instructed the Minister of Finance and Director General of Taxation to appreciate the tax officers because they have provided services and integrity in tax amnesty program.

Director of Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) Tito Sulistio, and Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Rosan Roeslani also attended the event.(UN/ES) (RAS/MMB/YM/Naster)
