President Jokowi Arrives in Germany

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Sunday (17/4) 20:40 local time or Monday (18/4) 01:40 Western Indonesian Time arrived in Berlin, Germany.

At Tegel International Airport in Berlin, President Jokowi was welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to the Germany Fauzi Bowo, Chief of Protocol of the Federal Republic of Germany Kondrat Arzvob Straussenberg, and German Ambassador to Indonesia Georg Witschel.

From Tegel International Airport, President Jokowi and his entourage directly headed to Adlon Kempinski Hotel, where they would stay during their visit in Germany.

At the hotel, President Jokowi was welcomed by Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, and Chief of National Intelligence Agency (BIN) Sutiyoso.

The song Berkibarlah Benderaku (Fly, My Flag) which was performed by Indonesian children living in Germany, enlivened the arrival of President Jokowi at the hotel.

Germany is the first country to be visited before the United Kingdom, Belgium, and the Netherlands, during the President’s working visit to four European countries.

In Germany, President Jokowi is scheduled to meet with German President Joachim Gauck and Chancellor Angela Merkel as well as to conduct business meetings with the CEOs of German leading companies and carry out other agenda.

Before arriving at Tegel International Airport, Berlin, the Presidential Aircraft carrying President Jokowi and his entourage, after about 8 hours and 20 minutes since its departure from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, was on transit for two hours at Abu Dhabi International Airport, United Arab Emirates on Sunday (17/4), on 13:55 local time (16:55 Western Indonesian Time) to refuel.

In Abu Dhabi, the President was welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to United Arab Emirates Husin Bagis and Indonesian Defense Attaché in Riyadh Lt. Col. (Inf) Drajad Brima Yoga.

Accompanying the President during the working visit to Europe are Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Minister of Trade Thomas Lembong. (DNS/ES) (RAS/EP/YM/Naster)
