President Jokowi Arrives in South Africa

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (08/23) arrived in Johannesburg, the Republic of South Africa.

The President took off from Maputo International Airport in the Republic of Mozambique at around 16.00 local time onboard GIA-1 Garuda Indonesia aircraft and landed at O. R. Tambo International Airport in the South African city at 17.00 local time.

Upon arrival, the President was welcomed by Minister of Forestry, Fishery, and Environment of South Africa Barbara Creecy, Senior Manager of International Relations and Cooperation Department of South Africa Sindiswa Mququ, and Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of South Africa Saud Purwanto Krisnawan and his spouse.

Zulu dance, a South African welcoming dance, was also performed at the airport to welcome President Jokowi.

Afterward, President Jokowi and his entourage headed to their hotel where they are staying during the visit to Johannesburg.

At the hotel, President Jokowi was welcomed by the Indonesian Consul General in Cape Town Tudiono and several Indonesian people residing in the country.

Joining President Jokowi in his flight to Johannesburg were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno L. P. Marsudi, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (DH/LW)
