President Jokowi Arrives in Tanzania

After undertaking state visit to the Republic of Kenya, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (08/21) continued state visit to the United Republic of Tanzania. The Garuda Indonesia GIA-1 aircraft carrying President Jokowi and the entourage arrived at Julius International Airport, Dar Salaam, Tanzania at around 5.05 p.m local time.

President Jokowi was welcomed by Tanzania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Stergomena Tax, Indonesia’s Ambassador to Tanzania residing in Dar Es Salaam Tri, Yogo Jatmiko and spouse, Ratna Jayanti Jatmiko, and Defence Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Pretoria, Colonel (Mar) Burhanuddin and spouse, Witha Anugrah.

At the airport, President Jokowi then received a flower garland from a Tanzanian child. He was also greeted with cultural performances such as welcoming dance from Maasai ethnic from Arusha and Msewe dance from Zanzibar. In addition, traditional welcoming music was also played by a music group.

President Jokowi and the entourage then headed to the hotel to stay the night during their visit to Tanzania. At the hotel, the President was greeted by several staff of the Indonesian Embassy in Dar Es Salaam and the representatives of the Indonesian community in Tanzania.

Also accompanying President Jokowi on the flight to Dar Es Salaam were, among others, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Marsudi, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, and Cabinet Secretary, Pramono Anung.
