President Jokowi Arrives in Vietnam

President Jokowi takes off to Vietnam for a working visit, Thursday (1/11) (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/Rusman)

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and a limited entourage Thursday (01/11) arrived at Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi, Vietnam at 14.45 local time.

In Vietnam, President Jokowi is slated to meet with the President of Vietnam Võ Văn Thưởng, Prime Minister of Vietnam Phạm Minh Chính, and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Vương Đình Huệ.

For the record, before taking off to Vietnam, President Jokowi had a meeting with Minister of Transporation of the Philippines Jaime Bautista and Minister of Defense of the Philippines Gilberto Eduardo Gerardo C. Teodoro Jr.

During a meeting with Minister Jaime Bautista, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation to the Departement of Transportation of the Phillipines for trusting Indonesian state-owned enterprises.

“We have to be grateful that our state-owned construction companies PT PP and PT Adhi Karya have successfully won two projects contract through project auction with a value of Rp8.5 billion,” the President added.

Moreover, during a meeting with Minister Gilberto Eduardo, President Jokowi said that the Government of the Phillipines praised the quality of the products of Indonesia’s defense industry, while expressing hope that other defense cooperation can be carried out in other countries.

“I ensure that Indonesian state-owned enterprises, both in construction and defense sectors, if they are managed properly, in a transparent manner, they can compete at global level,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretriat/AIT)(AP/MMB)
