After attending a series of meetings at the 42nd ASEAN Summit, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Wednesday (05/10) invited several ASEAN leaders and their spouses to enjoy East Nusa Tenggara’s beautiful landscape onboard a phinisi boat.

On the boat’s deck, the ASEAN leaders sat in a circle on rattan chairs, while the President and the First Lady sat in the middle of them.

The boat loosened the anchor to sail at 17.05 Central Indonesia Time (WITA). The atmosphere of twilight added to the warm conversation of the leaders as they set sail.

On that occasion, the President promoted tourist destinations in the eastern Indonesia fishing town of Labuan Bajo.

“There are many popular tourist attractions in Labuan Bajo, Rinca Island, including the Komodo National Park, Padar Island, and the Batu Cermin Cave,” the President said, adding that Labuan Bajo is also home to excellent spots for diving and snorkeling.

In addition, Indonesian traditional music accompanied by Sasando instrument was also presented as the President and ASEAN leaders sailed on the Lako Di’a ship that afternoon.

After sailing for approximately an hour, the phinisi boat returned to Marina Labuan Bajo. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RIF/MUR)
