President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo met with leaders of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) for the 2024-2029 term of service at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (10/14).

Following the meeting, Speaker of the MPR Ahmad Muzani stated that the purpose of the meeting was to introduce all leaders of the MPR who were elected through the 2024 legislative election.

“Our meeting today, this afternoon, with President Jokowi was the first. It served to introduce MPR leaders who were recently inaugurated on October 3 following the election results for 2024-2029 [term of service]. And we felt the necessity to introduce ourselves to the President of the Republic of Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, Muzani pointed out that they reported the preparation for the inauguration of the president-elect and vice president-elect set to be held on October 20, adding that he also invited the President to attend the inauguration.

Alhamdulillah, Mr. Jokowi insha Allah will be there next Sunday. For that reason, on behalf of the leaders of the People’s Consultative Assembly, I would like to express our thanks for his willingness to attend the inauguration of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia on Sunday,” he said.

According to Muzani, the President expressed hope that the inauguration can proceed smoothly, especially since the event will be attended by important guests from other countries.

“He expressed hope that the inauguration can go well as it will be attended by many VVIPs, including those from friendly countries and neighboring countries,” he said, adding that president-elect Prabowo Subianto, whom he met prior to the meeting with President Jokowi, echoed a similar sentiment.

“[Mr. Prabowo] expressed hope that the event would proceed well and smoothly because it is a leadership procession of the utmost importance for the nation,” he remarked. (TGH/DNS) (DH/MMB)
