President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo made a statement regarding 41 members of Malang Representatives Council (DPRD) who have been named suspects in bribery case by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

According to the President, it is not easy to build public trust. Therefore, President Jokowi reminded everyone who already gain public trust to maintain it wisely.

“Trust takes a long time to build,” said President Jokowi after distributing land certificates to the residents in East Java, Surabaya, Thursday (6/9).

“Maintain the trust for the sake of the people in the region, the province, and the country in general,” the President continued.

On the event, President Jokowi distributed 5,000 land certificates to residents from three cities and regencies in East Java, namely Surabaya City, Sidoarjo Regency, and Gresik Regency.

The President also expressed his appreciation to all staffs and officials in the National Land Agency (BPN) for their hard work to achieve the target (to issue land certificates).

“I know it is not an easy job. But we strive to do it to serve the public as good as possible,” said the President.

According to the President, the Government has distributed 5 million land certificates last year. This year, the target is 7 million certificates. As for 2019, the target will be increased to 9 million certificates.

President Jokowi also reminded the certificate holders to keep their document properly. He also advised the public to self-calculate (the amount of money) if they want to use the certificate as a collateral for bank loan.

“Do not use loan money for consumptive matters. Use the money only for productive matters, such as business, working capital and investment,” the President suggested.

Also present on the occasion were Head of National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, and Governor of East Java Soekarwo. (BPMI Setpres / ES) (STU/MMB/Setpres)
