President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on Friday (20/11), attended the 2020 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, virtually from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

Hosted by Malaysia, the 2020 Summit adopts the theme of “Optimising Human Potential Towards a Resilient Future of Shared Prosperity: Pivot, Prioritise, Progress” which reflects the hope of resilience, agility, and inclusive economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region through the concept of shared welfare during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Indonesia will seize the opportunity to voice the importance of rebuilding a strategic trust to strengthen the foundation of economic togetherness of APEC member countries and explain the steps that need to be taken to restore the global economy due to the pandemic.

The APEC Summit is expected to pass the post-2020 APEC vision which will determine the direction of APEC’s working agenda for the next 20 years. The vision will carry on the vision of the 1994 Bogor Goals which have served as the framework for APEC’s cooperation for the last 26 years agreed upon during Indonesia’s chairmanship in 1994.
