To realize a sustainable earth, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (08/09) invited the Indonesian people to work hand-in-hand with the Government and the global citizens.

“I’d like to appreciate and value the concern of the community, both from groups and individuals, on matters related to protecting the environment and overcoming impacts of climate change since it cannot be done by the Government or even one country alone. In fact, all countries must do it,” President Jokowi said after attending the Environment-Climate-Forestry-Energy Festival 2 at the Jakarta Convention Center, Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

According to the President, if the Government and the people fail to overcome the impacts of climate change, it will affect the quality of life.

He also underscored that all mining industries must establish a nursery and carry out environmental restoration and forest rehabilitation.

“The forestry and energy sectors provide us. If we mismanage, the sectors would put great pressure on our environment,” he remarked.

During the event, President Jokowi also handed over assistance to fifteen representatives of recipients of Community Fund Services & Circular Economy Financing Services to provide convenience for the community—especially the youth—in carrying out environmental restoration activities, circular economy, tree planting, and other green actions.

The President also distributed certificates of Agrarian Reform Object Decrees (TORA), Social Forest Decrees, and People’s Oil Palm Rejuvenation Decrees. (FID/ABD) (GWH/EP)
