President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo praised the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) for its support during his administration and he expressed hope that the PDI-P will continue to support his administration in the next five years.

“We have been working hand in hand and we will continue to fight to uphold democratic values and nationalism for the sake of social justice for all Indonesian people,” President Jokowi said in his remarks during the opening ceremony of the 5th Congress of PDI-P at Inna Grand Bali Beach Hotel, Sanur, Bali, on Thursday (8/8).
At the beginning of his remarks, President Jokowi, who was wearing Balinese traditional clothing, also said that the Party has helped him secure 91.6% of the total vote in Bali in the last Presidential election.

The President applauded the effort made by the PDI-P Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri and all stakeholders of the Party, and congratulated PDI-P for being a winner in the 2019 legislative election.

He went on to say that under the leadership of Megawati Soekarnoputri, PDI-P has been successful in the 2014 and 2019 election.

“It proves that PDI-P is a pioneer party with strong ideology, has strong grassroots as well as loyal and militant cadres,” President Jokowi said. (GUN/FID/ES)
