President Jokowi Attends Constitution Day Ceremony

President Joko (Jokowi) Widodo (08/18) attended the Commemoration of Constitution Day and the 78th Anniversary of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Jakarta.

“What is the benchmark of fair and prosperous? What are the benchmarks for a developed and progressing country? Is it per capita income? Or human development index? Or unemployment rate? Or poverty rate? Or something else? Or even all of them?” President Jokowi said.

According to the President, the country’s vision is not just normative and beautiful words but must be planned and comprehensible starting from benchmarks, strategies, to timeframe to achieve the goals. “This is important so that the people can understand where the nation is heading to, what the country is aimed to (achieve) so that the people can participate and have the sense of belonging,” he added.

President Jokowi also invited all elements of the nation to make the event as a strategic momentum to discuss strategic measures for the country to achieve its goals.

“On behalf of the Government, the nation, and the state, I wish to congratulate you a happy Constitution Day and happy 78th anniversary of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia. May this day can serve as a strategic momentum to discuss the nation’s strategy in achieving goals amid the global situation that is unpredictable and full of uncertainties,” President Jokowi remarked.
