The Golkar Party is the backbone of the Government, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“(If) Golkar Party experiences a slight shock, it will affect the Government,” the President said during the 55th Anniversary of the Golkar Party at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/11).

President Jokowi added that solidity of the Government must be maintained together.

In the meantime, the President congratulated Golkar Party for the success in the 2019 Election as well as the success in supporting the presidential election and in winning great confidence in strategic institutions within or outside the Cabinet, whether as Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Minister of Industry, Minister of Youth and Sports, Deputy Minister of Trade, or as the Speaker of People’s Consultative Assembly.

At the age of 55, the President added, the Golkar Party is more mature. He also believes that the Party will continue to skyrocket in the future due to its capable chairman.

“Yes, he is capable, he is the Coordinating Minister for the Economy. It is a very strategic position. Right now, the global economy experiences shocks, external economic shocks are not easy to overcome but I believe he is able to carry the mandate,” President Jokowi said.

The President called on the Party to become a modern party. The President also believes that with the existing young generation, the Golkar Party will become a pioneer in utilizing technology. “Those symbols that have been presented on this stage are a very clear (indication) that the Golkar Party is able to respond to the changes of time, as the world changes very rapidly,” the President said.
