“I’d like to extend my deepest gratitude for the hard work of all teachers during the pandemic. Thank you for guarding the future of our children during the pandemic. Thank you for guarding the future of the nation and the country through education,” the President said.
During the pandemic, he added, teachers, lecturers, and educational personnel faced tough times since they had to switch to online learning with all the limitations on the ground.
The President also expressed gratitude to the teachers because the pandemic has been under control so both people’s activities and the economy can recover.
“Alhamdulillah, we have administered 440 million vaccines to the public so we could tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. The economy will also return to normal. It is something we should be grateful for,” he said.
The Head of State also underscored that teachers are required to increase their capacity in the midst of rapid flow of change, to be able to adapt to sophisticated educational technology, and to master new knowledge and skills that are relevant to the challenges and the needs of a fast-changing world.
“Therefore, I ask all of you to update important information to provide our students with the latest information,” he said, adding that the Government constantly strives to improve the capacity and ability of teachers through various programs, including the Freedom to Learn (Merdeka Belajar) Program, the Freedom to Teach (Merdeka Mengajar) Program, and the Mobilization Organization Program.
The President further said that the Government has prioritized educational transformation to speed up the improvement of education quality across the country.
“Happy PGRI’s 77th Anniversary and National Teachers’ Day. We salute all teachers who have worked with the best dedication in educating the next generation to always love the nation and the state,” he remarked. (FID/UN) (RIF/EP)
