President Jokowi Awaits Official Apology from Malaysian Government

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo deplored the misprinting of Indonesian flag in the guidebook of SEA Games’ opening ceremony. The ceremony took place on Saturday (19/8) evening in Malaysia. Therefore, the President awaits official apology from Malaysian Government.

“I have deeply regretted the incident. I wait for official apology from Malaysian Government,” President Jokowi spoke to the journalists after Hand Over of Certificate of Rights over Land of National Strategic Programs of Greater Jakarta, at Park and Ride Field, Jl. M.H. Thamrin, Jakarta, Sunday (20/8) morning.

The President firmly said that Indonesia still demands Malaysia’s apology for hurting our national pride. However, he also cautioned not to exaggerating the incident.

For the record, Minister of Youth and Sports Imam Nahrawi expressed his disappointment over the error of the organizing committee as well as the Government of Malaysia in misprinting the Red and White Flag in the guidebook of the 2017 SEA Games. “The beautiful opening ceremony of the 2017 SEA Games has been tainted with a great carelessness that hurts us.
