President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and his limited entourage began East Java working visit on Thursday (6/5).

The President took off from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at around 07.00 Western Indonesian Time and will land at the Juanda International Airport, Sidoarjo Regency.

Upon arrival, the President is scheduled to directly visit Fish Market and Distribution Center (PPDI) in Brondong, Lamongan Regency. At the location, the President will inspect the fishery facilities and infrastructure as well as hold a dialogue with representatives from local fishermen.

In Lamongan Regency, the President is also slated to inspect seafood processing factories that export their processed products to foreign countries.

After the visit, the President is scheduled to go to visit the waste-to-electricity processing facility (PSEL) located at the Benowo Final Disposal Site (TPA), Surabaya City. The facility is a pilot project for the development of waste management into electrical energy and will be inaugurated by President Jokowi.

For the record, the construction of waste-to-electricity management facilities in several priority regions has long been discussed by the President and related officials at the Limited Meeting which was held on 16 July 2019. The facilities will not only provide electricity but also fix one of the problems regarding waste management, especially in big cities.

After the inspection and the inauguration of the facility, the President is scheduled to leave for Jakarta in the afternoon. (Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MMB)
