President Jokowi Begins East Java Working Visit

Shortly completing working visit in Papua New Guinea to attend the 2018 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit (APEC), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo headed to Surabaya, East Java province for another working visit.

Arriving in Surabaya on Sunday, the President and his entourage were welcomed by East Java Governor Soekarwo, Chief of East Java Regional Police Inspector General Luki Hermawan, and Chief of Military Region Command V Brawijaya Major General Arif Rahman.

The President Jokowi began his East Java working by visiting the Muhammadiyah Lamongan College of Health Sciences (STIKES) in Lamongan Regency, Monday (19/11) to inaugurate the Ki Bagus Hadikusumo Campus Mosque and change the status of 6 Muhammadiyah Universities and laid the first stone of the tower construction at the Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan.

In the afternoon, President Jokowi is slated to open the 21st Congress of the Muhammadiyah Student Association (IPM) of Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo, Sidoarjo Regency. After the opening of the congress, the President and his entourage are scheduled to return to Jakarta in the evening.

Joining the President during the East Java Working visit were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Thomas Lembong, and Special Staff to the President Adita Irawati.
