President Jokowi Begins NTT Visit to Inaugurate Tourism Infrastructure

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (07/21) left for the Indonesian eastern province of Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) for a working visit.

The President, along with First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo and his entourage, took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force base in East Jakarta to Manggarai Barat regency in the province onboard Presidential Aircraft Indonesia-1 at around 06:42 Western Indonesian Time.

Upon arrival at the regency’s Komodo Labuan Bajo airport, the President is scheduled to inspect and inaugurate the airport expansion project.

Afterwards, President Jokowi is slated to visit Rinca island on a pinisi boat to inaugurate the arrangement of Rinca Island area in Komodo National Park.

The Head of State is also scheduled to visit Marina National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) in Labuan Bajo to inaugurate the arrangement of the Marina-Labuan Bajo area and the Warloka waste management system before heading to the hotel for a night stay and continuing the working visit the next day.

Labuan Bajo is the gateway for trips across the nearby Rinca Island and Komodo National Park, both home to the famous Komodo dragons. The area is also one of the Government’s Super Priority Tourist Destinations.

Joining the President during the visit were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno.  (DND/UN) (AY/EP)
