President Jokowi Begins UAE Working Visit

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Tuesday (07/16), departed for Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) via the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, for a working visit.

“In the last ten years, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates relationship is getting stronger, especially in the economic and investment sector,” President Jokowi said.

The President went on to say that the UAE is the first Middle Eastern country to have a partnership agreement with Indonesia, namely the Indonesia-United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IUAE–CEPA). “Our partnership is, among other things, focused on cooperation in the sector of clean energy, such as solar energy cooperation in the Cirata dam,” he added.

For the record, President Jokowi is slated to meet with President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to discuss various efforts to increase cooperation between the two countries. (TGH/DNS) (GWH/AW)
