President Jokowi Begins Working Visit to UK

On the second day of his working visit to the United Kingdom, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Tuesday (19/4) morning local time had a meeting with 24 representatives of international financial organizations whose headquarters are in London.

President Jokowi is slated to meet the UK Prime Minister David Cameron at the office of the UK Prime Minister located at 10 Downing Street.

During the talk, both leaders will sign a number of Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) between the Indonesian Government and the UK Government and also had a luncheon.

On Tuesday afternoon, President Jokowi will deliver his remarks at the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) at the building of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and before the Parliament of the United Kingdom at Westminster Palace.

Ending today’s agenda, President Jokowi on Tuesday evening will have a gathering with Indonesian citizens in the UK. The gathering will be held at Wisma Nusantara of the Indonesian Embassy in London.

Thousands of Indonesian in the UK registered online to attend the gathering and due to the high number of people who registered to attend the gathering, the Indonesian Embassy added the allocation of seats from 1,000 seats into 1,250 seats.

Joining the President during the working visit to the UK were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Trade Thomas Lembong, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti, Minister of Finance Bambang Brodjonegoro, Governor of Bank Indonesia Agus Martowardojo, Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Franky Sibarani, Head of the Creative Economy Agency Triawan Munaf, and Indonesian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Rizal Sukma.
