President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called on his Cabinet to formulate a master plan for the development of food estate in Central Kalimantan province.

According to the President, the master plan should consist of whole aspects, including which areas designed to be the irrigated and non-irrigated areas, as well as the variety of plants.

“The irrigated area of ​​148,000 hectares will be used to plant rice while the non-irrigated area of ​​622,000 hectares will be used to plant cassava, maize and others as well as for livestock breeding,” said the President during a Limited Meeting via video conference on Food Estate Discussion on Wednesday (23/9) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

On that occasion, the President also pointed out that those related to supporting infrastructure and road access should be carried out immediately.

“This aims to accommodate large modern agricultural tools and machines to enter the field,” he said.

Furthermore, the President reminded that the development of food estates should be carefully calculated based on data.

“Including the variety of plants and the technology that we are going to use,” he said.
