In his remarks during the 30th Anniversary of ASEAN-Republic of Korea Partnership, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (26/11) called for improved soft connectivity, among others, people to people contact and investment in education.

“Soft connectivity relates to humans,” Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi as quoted President Jokowi’s remarks.

She added that the President also put emphasis on people-to-people contact.

“The President also reiterated the importance of ASEAN and Republic of Korea to have the so-called “a visa-free regime” aimed at strengthening human relations and this was also echoed by several ASEAN leaders,” Retno told reporters at Lotte Hotel, Busan, Tuesday (26/11).

Regarding investment in education, President Jokowi said it is of particular importance considering this will act as a buffer for more sustainable relations related to connectivity between economic players. “This means a relation will not run sustainably without strong economic relations,” Retno said.
