President Jokowi gives directives at Grahadi State Building, Surabaya City, East Java, Thursday (25/6).

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called on COVID-19 related stakeholders to jointly handle the COVID-19 cases in East Java province and in an integrated manner within two weeks.

“The stakeholders includes the central and regional COVID-19 Task Force, hospitals, and village heads. All of them must conduct a joint crisis management to overcome the pandemic and reduce the number of new cases,” President Jokowi said at the Grahadi State Building, Surabaya City, East Java province, Thursday (25/6).

According to the President, the most important thing is good cooperation and synergy between stakeholders, adding that the highest number of COVID-19 cases in Greater Surabaya areas was due to agglomeration in the region.

“The measures taken to tackle COVID-19 in Surabaya should also apply in the neighboring cities such as Gresik, Sidoarjo, and others since the people who commute to Surabaya come from those cities through which they also contribute to the rising number of COVID-19 cases,” explained the President.

For this reason, the President emphasized that a good coordination between stakeholders is pivotal. He also ordered warding patients in different hospitals to avoid crowd in one hospital only. (UN/EN)
