The Agency for the Implementation of State Ideology of Pancasila (BPIP) is tasked to internalize the values of Pancasila state ideology to the nation’s youths particularly to those under 39 years old on a daily basis, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“We hope that following the appointment of Prof. Yudian as BPIP Chairman, internalization of Pancasila can be further accelerated,” the President said after inaugurating BPIP Chairman at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (5/2).

Regarding special tasks for the newly inaugurated chairman, the President called for direct implementation on the ground. “I think the materials are all complete so it will be straightforward to the youths,” he said.

On that occasion, the President also raised the issue of sluggish economic growth, saying that in comparison with other countries, mainly the G20 countries, Indonesia is ranked 2nd, the President said.

Alhamdulillah, praise be to God, our economic growth is still above 5%, more precisely at 5.02%. We should be grateful because economies of many countries have in fact plummeted,” the President said, adding that maintaining such a position is difficult.

According to the President, good communication between monetary authorities, namely the Central Bank and the Government as well as with the Financial Service Authority (OJK) is of importance.

“Monetary policies by Bank Indonesia and banking policies by the OJK are very prudent,” the President said, adding that the Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) has raised Indonesia’s sovereign debt rating from BBB with a positive outlook to BBB+ with a stable outlook, which indicates improved international trust towards Indonesia.

“We must be optimistic given that international trust towards us is getting better,” the President said. (TGH/EN)
