President Jokowi Calls for Preparing Children for Future
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (07/23) highlighted the importance of preparing children for the future.
“I think that intelligence, knowledge, and character of the children must be prepared for the future,” the President said after attending the Peak Commemoration of the 2024 National Children’s Day at Istora Papua Bangkit in Jayapura, Papua province.
The President also said that all Indonesian children must do their best at their studies.
The Head of State further said that this year’s commemoration of National Children’s Day was held for the the first time in Papua while underscoring that he was pleased with the high enthusiasm of all children joining the event.
For the record, 2,600 Papuan elementary and middle school students participating in the event successfully broke the MURI (the Indonesian Record Museum) record, for the highest number of traditional Yospan colossal dancers.
On that occasion, the President expressed his gratitude for the new record while underscoring that Indonesia’s future creative industry starts with children.
“Those children are indeed very creative. Indonesia’s creative industry starts with children. As we saw earlier, the children were dancing, and they really immersed in it. This is in our DNA.” he remarked. (TGH/ABD) (AP/RAS/MMB)
