Large-scale social distancing and physical distancing should be more strictly practiced with more discipline and more effective measures, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.

“I have previously said that it (physical distancing) practice needs to be supported by civil emergency policies,” President Jokowi said in his remarks before an online Limited Cabinet Meeting on Report of the COVID-19 Task Force on Monday (30/3) at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

The President also ordered that clearer implementing regulations should be drafted as a guideline for provinces, regencies and cities in implementing the large-scale social restriction policy.

“I’d like to remind all of you that the policy of health quarantine, including regional quarantine is the domain of the Central Government, not domain of regional government,” the President stated.

All Cabinet Ministers, the President added, should also ensure that the Central Government and regional governments share the same vision.

“We should have one vision and the same policies. Everything should be calculated. Everything should be measured, including the impacts on health sector and on social economy,” the President said. (TGH/EN)
