President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called on state leaders to have the courage to carry out a major revolution to stop and prevent wars in order to create world peace. The President highlighted that in the end, it is the people who will fall victims to the war.

“As leaders, we must have the courage and willingness to carry out a great revolution to create changes and improvement so that wars can be stopped,” the President said during the G7 Hiroshima Summit Session 9, at the Grand Prince Hotel, Hiroshima, Japan, Sunday (05/21).

According to the President, everybody is yearning for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous world. However, the current situation falls short of this expectation.

“Distrust is getting deeper, rivalry is getting fiercer, wars and conflicts are still happening everywhere,” the President added.

In the midst of multiple increasingly worrying global crises, President Jokowi considers that the joint efforts to end the wars have not shown significant progress. In his closing statement, the President reiterates that peace, stability, and prosperity are shared responsibility and goals. Thus, all global leaders must make changes.

“Let us make changes together,” the President concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AY/MUR)
