In a bid to further boost people’s immunity, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (11/24) urged the public to immediately get second booster dose of vaccination.

“This morning, I just received the second booster vaccine shot and I hereby invite the people, especially health workers, elderly, as well as people who have high interactions between communities,” President Jokowi stated at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java.

According to the President, the Government has administered 205 million doses of first vaccine, 172 million doses of second vaccine, 66 million doses of first booster vaccine, and 730 thousand doses of second booster vaccine.

“This is important to be carried out so that we can maintain our immunity and can curb the COVID-19 transmission,” he said.

On the occasion, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin asserted that 84 percent of COVID-19 fatality cases and 74 percent of COVID-19 with moderate and severe symptoms cases who received treatment in hospitals in fact had not received a booster vaccine.

“I remind the public to immediately get booster vaccine for we just reached 66 million of 234 million vaccine recipients targets,” Budi said, adding that health workers and the elderly group (over the age of 60) must immediately get the second booster vaccine.

According to the Minister, President Jokowi received IndoVac vaccine as the second booster.

“Please use IndoVac vaccine as booster vaccination for it has proven to be very effective,” Budi concluded. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (GWH/HD)
