President Jokowi Calls on TNI, Polri, BIN to Safeguard Christmas, New Year Celebrations

Ahead of this year’s Christmas and 2020 New Year holidays, the Government has announced it ensures security across the country.

For that reason, President Jokowi instructed Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) to collaborate in safeguarding 2019 Christmas and 2020 New Year celebration.

“We should also strengthen the values ​​of tolerance, harmony, as well as our brotherhood, which can bring a sense of togetherness security towards Christmas and New Year’s Eve,” President Jokowi said in his introductory remark at the Limited Cabinet Meeting on the Preparation of 2019 Christmas and 2020 New Year, at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Friday (13/12).

On that occasion, the President also said that food price stability and food availability should be well maintained.

“I would like to ensure that food supply and distribution run smoothly,” he said, adding that transportation services should be also well prepared.

“The smoothness, comfort, and safety for all transportation users should be well prepared, be it in land, sea and air, including sufficient supply of fuel during the celebration,” he added. (FID/AGG/ES)
