President Jokowi Checks Unhusked Rice Price

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (03/06) talked with a number of farmers and inspected rice harvest in Soreang, Bandung regency, West Java province.

The President made that impromptu visit to the paddy field on his way to Bandung city after inspecting cooperative at Al-Ittifaq Islamic Boarding School.

“[I asked] how much the price of unhusked rice is, how much the price of dried unhusked rice is. I have talked with the farmers and the price is still high,” he said in a press statement.

He went on to say that the farmers said that the price of dried unhusked rice is Rp6,000 per kg. According to him, the price is still reasonable.

However, the farmers voiced a complaint over the high price of fertilizer and poor access to fertilizer.

“It’s hard to get the fertilizer. It’s only available lately but the price is high,” a farmer said.

After talking with the farmers, President Jokowi headed to Husein Sastranegara Air Force Base to return to Jakarta. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RAS/ LW)
