President Jokowi Concludes Papua Working Visit

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has concluded a four-day working visit to provinces of Papua and West Papua and returned to Jakarta on Monday (04/10).

The President and his entourage arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at 15.20 Western Indonesia Time, after departing from Domine Eduard Osok International Airport, Sorong city, at 14.00 Eastern Indonesia Time.

During his working visit in Papua province, the President visited Jayapura regency, Jayapura city, and Merauke regency. In Jayapura regency, the President visited Papua Bangkit sports complex and inaugurated the National Sports Week (PON) venues, including Papua Bangkit sports complex, outdoor and indoor hockey venues, rowing venue, roller skating venue, aquatic venue, archery venue, and cricket venue.

The President also attended and officially opened the 20th National Sports Week. In Jayapura city, the President attended the groundbreaking of Papua Youth Creative Hub and delivered directives to Regional Leaders Forum (Forkopimda) of Papua province on COVID-19 handling.

In Merauke Regency, the President inaugurated the new terminal at Mopah Airport and the Sota Integrated Border Post (PLBN), and visited the Sota Market. The President also inspected the implementation of vaccination program, inaugurated the General L. B. Moerdani Modular Hospital, and watched the Wushu Sanda match at the Youth and Sports Office Building.

In West Papua province, the President visited Sorong city and Sorong regency. In Sorong regency, the President planted corn with farmers, while in Sorong city the President inspected the implementation of vaccination program and delivered directives to Regional Leaders Forum (Forkopimda) of West Papua province.
