President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo conducted a groundbreaking ceremony for the central bank Bank Indonesia office complex, Thursday (11/02) afternoon, in Nusantara Capital (IKN), North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.

“Building Bank Indonesia’s office complex in IKN will develop trust in business sector and investors, because the monetary authority, banking sector, and payment system are ready and prepared to support IKN establishment, as well as ready to support a sustainable economic growth in Nusantara Capital,” the President remarked.

The foregoing groundbreaking ceremonies have also been done and the establishment has been initiated in IKN for a number of infrastructures, starting from the presidential palace, ministerial offices, health facilities, education facilities, shopping center, sports facilities, housing, to hotels. President Jokowi stated that the groundbreaking has proved Indonesia’s commitment and readiness to build IKN as a world-class capital.

“To date, we have estimated that until December, a total budget of Rp45 trillion will be provided to start a construction work in Nusantara Capital. There will be five hotels to be built soon, four five-star hotels, one four-star hotels, and also four hospitals and schools,” the President explained.

President further explained that the construction of government’s buildings and a number of basic infrastructures are funded through the State Budget. Meanwhile, other constructions can be funded by private sector with a scheme of cooperation between the Government and enterprises or public private partnership scheme. (FID/UN) (AW/MUR)
