President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has conferred Bintang Mahaputra Nararya Award to Indonesian politicians Fadli Zon and Fahri Hamzah.

According to President Jokowi, the Award is conferred to someone who has given services to the nation and state and has gone through careful consideration by the Title and Merit Council.

As for the awardee, the award was granted for their role as former Vice Speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR) for 2014-2019 period.

Fadli Zon said the award was an appreciation for him and the people of Indonesia because they have guarded the democracy and together protect Indonesia.

“This is an honor for me and Fahri. However, since the DPR is representing the people of Indonesia, the award is actually an award for the people,” said Fadli.

Fadly also expressed gratitude for the recognition of democracy.

“With various differences along the way, it is our opportunity to move forward and remain strong in the checking and balance system,” Fadli said. (FID / EN)
