President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed happiness over Indonesia’s paragliding athlete Jafro Megawanto who secured the gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games in the individual landing accuracy number at Gunung Mas, Puncak, West Java, Thursday (23/8).

According to the President, before becoming a paragliding athlete, Jafro Megawanto was in charge of folding and tidying the athletes’ parachutes. “Every day (Jafro) used to watch paragliding athletes and fold parachutes before started dreaming to become a paragliding pilot,” President Jokowi wrote on his Facebook fan page. The President added that the opportunity presented itself to Jafro when he finally joined the paragliding school and became an athlete.

President Jokowi also tweeted via his Twitter account @jokowi, congratulating the athlete:  “Congratulations to Jafro Megawanto on winning the seventh gold for Indonesia,”

Paragliding is a recreational and competitive sport of jumping from a plane or a high place and floating to the ground wearing wide, rectangular, steerable parachute.
