Indonesian badminton mixed double pair Praveen Jordan and Debby Susanto holding the All England trophies on Sunday (13/3)

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo congratulated Indonesian badminton mixed double pair Praveen Jordan and Debby Susantoon winning the All England mixed double title at this year’s All England held in Birmingham, England, from 8 -12 March 2016.

“Praveen and Debby, you are outstanding. Congratulations on winning the All England title! The whole Indonesian people and I are very proud of you two,” the President tweeted through his Twitter account @jokowi on Sunday (13/3).

Prior to the final match between Praveen and Debby against the Danish pair Joachim Fisher Nielsen and Christina Pedersen, President Jokowi also voiced his support for the only Indonesian representative at the final.

“Praveen and Debby have made it to the All England Final. Let us give our supports and prayers so they can be the champion,” the President said in his tweet.

In their previous attempts, Praveen and Debby did not make it to the main draw (2014) and reached the Semi Final in 2015.

However, at this year’s All England, Praveen and Debby unexpectedly trashed the defending champion and Olympic Champion Zhao Yunlei and Zhang Nan from China 21-19, 21-16.  In the Quarter Final, they also beat another Chinese pair Liu Cheng and Bao Yixin, in two straight games 21-14 and 23-21.

Before winning the All England title, Praveen and Debby clinched the 2016 Indian Open Grand Pix Title in January and the Sea Games gold medal in 2015. (ES) (Naster/YM/EP)
