President Jokowi: Congratulations on International Women’s Day

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) offers his congratulations on International Women’s Day on 8 March.

“Lastly, I want to say Happy International Women’s Day to all the women who are here today, to all Indonesian women whom I’m proud of and respect,” said the President at the distribution of Smart Indonesia Card (KIP), Family Hope Programme (PKH) and also Rice Social Assistance (Rastra) at Tri Dharma Sports Complex, PT. Petrokimia Gresik, in Gresik District, East Jawa Province, Thursday (8/3).

In that opportunity, the President also expressed his wish for the women every success in all their endeavours for a more peaceful, prosperous, and just life.

Meanwhile, in commemorating the International Women’s Day, the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) also tweeted #SekarangWaktunya: Suara Perempuan Didengar (now it is time for women’s voice to be heard).

Until now the Indonesian Government has participated and has expressed a commitment in international forums, such as in the conference named End Violence Solutions Summit in Sweden. In that conference, Indonesia, represented by Minister Yohana, was a model state in handling the issues concerning violence against women and children.

The direction of Indonesia’s development, based on the data of the Ministry of PPPA, has actually aligned with and can address the challenges of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) priority issues by 2030.

Beside First Lady Iriana, also accompanying the President along the event were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Minister of Social Idrus Marham, East Java Governor Soekarwo, and Gresik Regent Sambari Halim Radianto. (FID/OJI/EN) (AF/AW/EP/Naster)
