President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (317) made a phone call to King of Saudi Arabia Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to convey Eid Al-Adha greeting to the Saudi King.

“The people of Indonesia and I would like to wish a blessed Eid Al-Adha to His Majesty and all the people of Saudi Arabia,” President Jokowi said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also said he was pleased to learn that King Salman has discharged from the hospital and fully recovered.

“The people of Indonesia and I pray that His Majesty will always be blessed with good health,” the President added.

President Jokowi also expressed appreciation for the pilgrimage this year which was performed with restrictions due to the pandemic.

“The Indonesian Government appreciates the arrangements for the Hajj which is performed with strict health protocols and by promoting the health of the people. Let us continue to pray so that this pandemic can be quickly tackled,” said the President.

For the record, Saudi Arabia this year announced it would hold a “very limited” Hajj because of the coronavirus pandemic with only about 10,000 people living in the kingdom allowed to take part in the pilgrimage.

Furthermore, the President also invited King Salman to continue good relations between the two countries, including economic cooperation.

“Saudi Arabia is always ready to improve relations for the good of the two countries,” King Salman said. (BPMI / EN)
