President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, and the Presidential entourage on Tuesday (20/12) morning arrived at Tjilik Riwut Airport in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan.

The President’s arrival was warmly welcomed with a traditional Dayak dance at the Airport.

On that occasion, President Jokowi was crowned as “Raja Haring Hatungku Tungket Langit”, which means the king who is wise and noble and supports the unity of the nation.

The coronation procession was led by Agustiar Sabran, Head of the Central Kalimantan’s Dayak Customary Council (DAD), shortly after the Presidential entourage landed.

Sabran said the title serves as a token of the Dayak people’s appreciation to the President, who is considered capable of leading Indonesia in maintaining unity of the nation.

“This is the symbol of the Dayak community to support the administration of President Jokowi,” Sabran said.

Also attending the coronation procession were a number of Central Kalimantan’s Dayak people community figures, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Minister of Health  Nila Moeloek. (BPMI/ES) (EP/YM/Naster)
