President Jokowi Declares Wednesday 27 June 2018 a Public Holiday

In order to provide the widest opportunity for citizens to exercise their right to cast their vote in the 2018 simultaneous regional head elections in several provinces and regencies/cities, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has stipulated Wednesday, 27 June2018, which is the voting day, as a public holiday (link: Keppres Number 15 of 2018).

The decision is stated in Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 15 of 2018 on Election Day of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, Deputy Governor and Deputy Mayor of 2018 as a Public Holiday.

“To establish Wednesday 27 June 2018 as a public holiday in the simultaneous elections of Governor and Deputy Governor, Regent and Deputy Regent, and Mayor and Deputy Mayor,” reads the first dictum of the Presidential Decree.

“This Presidential Decree shall apply from the date of its promulgation, on 25 June 2018”, reads the second dictum. (Center of Data and Information of Cabinet Secretariat/ES) (MUR/MMB/YM/Naster).
