President Jokowi Delivers Christmas Greetings

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has extended a Christmas Greeting to all Christians in Indonesia through his social media accounts, inlcuding Twitter, Instagram and Facebook fanpage.

“To my Christian brothers and sisters throughout the country and wherever they are, may peace, joy and harmony continue to accompany us,” the President wrote.

Meanwhile, National Police Chief General Idham Azis reported that the 2019 Christmas celebration has proceeded well.

“All Christmas celebrations in the country have went well and peacefully. The National Police and the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) together with the people were committed to maintaining peace and security during the celebration,” Idham said when inspecting security situation at a number of churches in Jakarta, Tuesday (24/12).

In the meantime, TNI Commander Hadi Tjahjanto praised the public for maintaining security during Christmas. “Everything went well including at churches where worshippers gather,” Hadi said. (ANT/ES)
